Happy birthday 00-009!
Three years ago today, I went to Performance Acura in Chapel Hill on a cold, rainy Monday morning. I had a check in hand, and rain or no rain, I wanted to drive away in a beautiful black Integra Type R. After a few hours of paperwork and a DMV run to get a title transferred (my trade-in), I pulled out onto I40 for the first time alone in #009.
Six months ago today, I sold her. It took me about four months to make the decision to sell, and I'm honestly happy I did. I no longer have to worry about when theives are going to come after my car, and I no longer worry about riceboys vandalizing her.
In 2.5 years, we covered just over 26,000 miles together. She didn't remain stock long - here's the path of upgrades as best I remember.
* AEM cold air intake
* JDM 4-1 header and Jeg's 2.5" cat
* V-AFC
* Toda gen 1 cam gears
* Cut valve cover (bought an OEM replacement)
* Sparco Torino driver's seat
* UKDM CTR wheels in CW
* Spoon transmission and oil drain plugs
* Toda Spec B cams
* JDM upper heat shield
I think that's it. Most of the mods were sold off the car when I let her go. I did include the header/cat and the CTR wheels with the deal though.
And now the bad things that happened while I owned #009, and some of the reasons I was happy to sell:
* Broken into through driver's side window. A few interior plastic pieces damaged, but no theft attempt and nothing actually stolen
* Egged, damaging paint on hood, roof, hatch lid and spoiler. $2000 repair bill
* Hit and run. Scuffed front bumper and small chip on hood. Polished out/touched up
* Spoiler stolen. Ripped straight off the hatch lid. Over $2500 to repair (I still have the old hatch shell if anyone wants it)
All in all, #009 made me very, very happy, but at a cost. If I were to buy another one, I'd approach it with a different attitude. I could only have one now as a track toy, not a daily driver. Track toys don't get upset if you go three months without washing them. And besides, the "scene" is getting worse in my area - I'd probably get revved on four times a day if I were still driving #009 now
Happy birthday, #009. I hope your new owner is treating you well

Ah, #009. Sad to see her go, but glad you're still happy with the decision. Great write-up, but no mention of the gap trips?

Yep one of the reasons I'm selling my Lude and getting a 99-00 Audi A4 1.8T (Honda thefts in my area are on the rise)
Sorry to hear about all your horror stories... If you happen to see your car give it 3 slaps on the *** for me. Later Bruh.

Hey Pat is the new owner on H-T.
Looking back, I should have passed on this deal and sold to more of an enthusiast. Ah well, bygones is bygones

Nope. I gave him the URL and a few phone numbers of NYC H-T members, but I haven't heard a peep from him since.
