Exploding Miata and a mostly clean lap at VIR
Okay, I have a clean version of the Miata video now. I still need to wash my car...

I'm guessing the Miata threw a rod or the motor locked up. Your guess is as good as mine. The bits flying at my car were internal engine parts, or part of the block that got punched out. Free crankcase breather...

I have an SMS header which goes to a very short 3' exhaust w/ resonator. It dumps at the end of the main tunnel, and faces down. It's the best way to pass sound. Can't (not won't) drive the car without earplugs and a helmet.

US final drive. The backstraight is almost 1/2 mile long and the front straight had a fairly high speed entry. I have no idea how fast I'm going at the end of the 2 straights. Somewhere deep into 5th is about all I know.

P.S. Isn't redline in 4th about 120-125mph? You were probably going faster than 120...
4th = 120mph when on the rev limiter...

Naw, that wasn't r2x. She was the next car to come through that mess though, I think. I have no idea where any of the cars behind me could have gone, because the track was covered with oil and metal bits from left all the way to the right, almost right on the normal line. I chose to go lawnmowing, and since I've been doing it as a kid I'm quite good at it 
As for why I didn't bother to go chat w/ miata guy? I dunno. Kinda normal to see one or two incidents a weekend I suppose. I've seen worse happen in front of me or around me. I did find a friend of his, and I sent him the URL. It should get back to the owner.
No, this kind of thing isn't normal though. People don't normally scatter **** all over you, other than maybe a few pebbles or some tire marbles. If you're worried, put on a bra or some of the clear tape stuff from OG Racing, which is made of the same stuff that the clear bras are made out of.
