engine problems with code but can't
When I start the car and the idle settles the check engine light comes on. I turned off the car, turn the key to the second position, jumper the plug and it won't show a code(none and the engine light won't come on at all). It's like it resets. I need some suggestions.
Also, While the engine is on and the check E Light is on, if you start to give it gas, it bogs for a spit sec. and then goes up like normal.
I'm clueless. If I could get the code it would send me in the right direction.
By the way........97 ITR motor in a 93 Del Sol using a GSR computer.

Most Honda ECU's DON'T reset when you turn the car off, once. They reset when you turn it on and off about 30 times or so.
As for the Jetta ECU, well...

on pre 96 computers, if the code isnt substantial enough, it will
disregard it once the ignition is turned off.
on pre 92 computers it forgets any code once the ignition is turned off.
If the code is important enough it will wait a certain number of driving
cycles before deleting it, it has nothing to do with how many times
you cycle power.

Take a look at the self-diagnostic procedures in the service manual for a (pre-92) 1991 NSX, pages 11-19 through 11-22 at http://www.nsxprime.com/FAQ/Referenc..._svcman/11.pdf You will see that you need to not only turn off the car, but also pull the clock fuse to reset the codes. (If the codes were reset by turning off the car, you wouldn't need to pull the clock fuse.)

A little more info for you. Everything was fine until yesterday(It's been running over a year now with not one problem).
I did try to check the code with the engine running(engine light on)but it still didn't supply the flashes(giving the code number).
This is a 95 ECU
And from what I've been told and seen before, Steve is correct about the computer(OBD 1) reseting the check engine light if it's not significant.
