comptech header problem....
this problem has to do with a civic si, but i'm wondering if i have the wrong header from a type r, or GSR. I tried bolting it up, and it doesn't bolt exactly to the cat like it should. I'm wondering if the header was for a gsr or type r, but was installed on a civic si? I bought it from a friend (can't get ahold of until tomorrow) but i want to be able to sleep better tonight knowing the problem. Look at the picture
From this angle it looks like the length is fine, it's just the position of the flange that's the problem. It appears to be an ITR/LS or '00/'01 GS-R header, which is the same length as the Si's but with a different flange angle.
well that is the problem. I actually got a universal flange from autozone for a temp solution to drive the car. The header is actually shorter then stock so it must be for an integra. Now my whole exhaust is pushed forward and the tip instead of it being flush with the rear lip, it's in like 4-5 inches. Is there a test pipe that i can purchase that would be the correct size that would push the exhaust back to where its supposed to be? I could probably have one made, but if i could purchase one with an o2 bung that would be better.

Then I misjudged from the picture, and it isn't an LS/ITR or '00+ GS-R.

You can get a testpipe in any size you want, although the ECU will still throw a code whether there is a O2 bung in it or not. I would personally go with a 2.25" Carsound cat. for this application.

i don't think you misjudged. but it's shorter then the stock si one. so everything is pushed forward. So why would i have an o2 bung if it wont stop the cel? Do i need to get an o2 simulator? Test pipe in any length? Custom or purchased off the net? Any links would be appreciated.

That was my point. You might have luck with an O2 simulator or the foil trick, although I've never tried either of these. Dave at SMSP should be able to make you any testpipe or Carsound cat. that you need. Give him a call - he's always very helpful and his work is excellent.

Dave may know the length you need off-hand, or you could simply measure it.
