Default compression test question

i did a compression test on my car with 33k on the clock. are 256, 258, 259, 255 good numbers? i know there is not supposed to be a difference of 15psi per cylinder.

I think the helms manual says ~20 variance. But those are some very healthy numbers. What car is that?

Sounds a little high but agian the real test is if all the numbers are close to each other. Those number seem to be more than fine. Wouldn't expect much different considering the that the car runs strong.

Those numbers are crazy high! Are you sure you...

1.) Removed all the sparkplugs when doing the test
2.) Press the gas pedal all the way down while cranking the engine
3.) Crank it 5 times

I stop cranking when the needle stops, thats at 8 cranks. being that I have CTR pistons im well over 300 psi in every cylinder

ummmm...
I just did mine 99GSR 83K+ miles
230 225 230 230
Nominal on a GSR is 270 minimum is 140, ITR's have higher compression than GSR's

there are so many variables that also go into it...

if you do it with the engine warm, you will have less piston to wall clearance, making the numbers higher as well...

the major thing is if the numbers are within 10-15% of each other...

sometimes the difference could be the gauge used. go out and buy 2 different manufacturors comp. gauge, and I'd be willing to be they are off between 10-20 psi. I've seen this first hand.
