Check engine light on
does this in anyway detune the car??
Whe the check engine light just stays on?
Reason for asking is that my car feels like a lazy dog...any help whould be great.

The light is on for a reason. Something is wrong with your car.
Use your service manual (I think it's in the "fuel" section), and follow the instructions there to pull the codes from your car's ECU. The codes will tell you what's wrong with your car, and it has a procedure to follow for each code, on what to do next.
If you don't work on your own car, take it to the dealer and they'll do it for you.
