Re: bumper turning black above exhaust?? (H-PIMP)
My bumper is rather "black" above my exhaust. Not sure why.
Would you guys be able to tell if i'm running too rich by looking at my dyno plot? It has an A/F graph on it as well. However, the dyno was done at 55K... and I have recently done my 60K tuneup and added a JDM 4-1 + Carsound cat...

Re: bumper turning black above exhaust?? (Mires)
Sorry to bump an ancient thread, but hoping some of you guys can help me out.
I've been looking at a few 1997 CW Type-R's for sale with around 130,000-160,000 kms on them and the 2 that I looked at both have the exhaust side of the bumper turning beige/brown...
Just wondering what 'running rich' means exactly?? and what your opinions are on buying a car that has these conditions and is this a bad indication of how it was driven/maintained??
any suggestions/opinions would be gladly appreciated

talk about bringing a thread back from the grave. search function is your friend, but i'm hungover with nothing else to do, so i'll answer you.
"running rich" basically means that you're getting too much fuel, and it's not all being burned. it doesn't really mean that the car hasn't been maintained. many itr's i've seen have this problem. just have the car checked out by a trusted mechanic before you buy it. judging by your question, you're not too knowledgeable about cars, so i definitely suggest having it checked before you purchase.
thanks and have a nice stay on h-t.
