broken stud.
I managed to break a stud on my motor. It is one of the valve/wire cover studs. It is broken flush with the rubber/metal bold seal thing. The rubber/metal seal is still on there and its mildly stuck there. I tried to lift it with a little force and it didn't budge so I left it. Didn't want to pull it off. Anyway, is there anyway to fis this bold stud or maybe find a thinner rubber piece so I can screw on a nut to hold it down. Also it the mean time, am I going to be leaking oil out of there?
To replace it, I'd have to take the valve cover off. Are these like double sided screws? Can I just remove the valve cover and unscrew the broken one and replace it, or is it welded to the head?
its not welded to the head, you just have to take the valve cover back off and use a deep well socket to unscrew the boken stud, once you get the valve cover off you'll see how simple it is.
not to jack your thread but I stripped either the bolt or the stud on my mottor, the one in the far left towards the bottom of the valve cover. The bolt just spins, and it wont get tighter or looser, and I can't remove the valve cover either b/c of the slipped blot on the stud. Any body have any Ideas of what I should do.
