everyone has their own way of breaking it in.
but general rule of thumb is don't mash on it until 1000 miles.
try to keep the RPMs down for the first 300-400 miles, then raise the RPMs a bit more for every 100-200 increment until the 1000 mile mark is reached.

i remember reading about using non-synthetic for the first 500 miles, then switch to mobil 1 or whatever your preference is for the rest of the motors life.

my car was definitely pushed to the limits from day 1. although i am not the original owner, i know what's how it was broken in.

the car runs and feels STRONG. no complaints. i have driven other cars that have been babied at the start and they feel "tighter"...

This is what I have heard as well. Redline even recommends against using their oil for break in periods.

I too seem to remember someone from Honda saying that they run mineral oil in the engine for the first 1000kms then they run the Honda FEO 10/30 which I'm pretty sure is a synthetic/mineral blend.

it does help the rings seat properly...

old hot rodders told me this..." Break it in like how you'll drive it". So..if you want your car to last forever and never see above 4k, then don't rev that hgih during break in. If you're an all out racer....start it up, keep the revs above 3grand to try and seat the rings, make sure you have no leaks, then mash it

put it on stands, Start the engine, and put it in first. You will hear when the rings seal up.

Hey this question might be a bit lateish but\...Should I rebalance the engine or should it be ok? Had a little bit of a blue with the mechanic yesterday about this, he says it should be ok but I still think that I should balance the engine with the new pistons, reground crank and undersize bearings (that's all) , whadda ya think?
