Default Bad Problem

i had a semi long drive the other day and when i got home and stopped i noticed a little bit of smoke under my hood. so i looked and there wasnt any antifreeze left. i filled it up and drove it for a day and everything was fine. The next day the same exact thing .. smoke and no antifreeze can anyone tell me what that is before i take it to the shop

I assume you're talking about your coolant? Is your car puffing out white smoke? If so, examine your headgasket.

check your oil, too. is it whitish brown and or/foamy? if so, you sir have the classic signs of a head gasket leak.

white smoke means that coolant is somehow making it into your exhaust.

his smoke was under the hood though.. would that still indicate a failing headgasket?

Must be a cracked radiator. See if its leaking overnight.

Check your oil, if it's normail then look around elsewhere as well. Check lines, hoses, etc. My old cressida did the same thing because of the clutch fan, which in turn overheated, which in turn spit water out of the res, which in turn hit a hot piece of the exhaust.

edit: it's not a clutch fan in this case though

good news ... it was only the fan in the front of that car. it wasnt working and was causing the engine to heat up and thats why it was burning so much coolant. and then it would smoke when there wasnt any coolant left. thanks for the help guys
