absolute max rev limit?
im planning my all motor build on my jdm itr.
ill be building the head to handle 10k but ill be leaving the stock block.
whats is the absolute max rpm the stock jdm itr block can handle without blowing **** up? what is the "least" that can be done to it to handle higher revs? reason why im asking least is because i plan to build the block later on as a 2L so i dont want to spend money on something ill end up replacing anyway for the future build?

Built properly yeah, I think the block will hold those RPM's. It really comes down to the quality of the build (including machine work) and the tuning.

sorry for the wise *** comment, i've been studying in the library for about 6 hours
what are your plans for tuning? that is going to be critical. I'd say why not upgrade the bottom end, might as well do everything. yeah, its more expensive, but in the end worth it. maybe list some of the plans you already have? someone may have something similar and be able to assist you better

i cant afford any down time on my car as its my only daily driver for work and school. this is why im only building the head mildly. i plan on getting it crome dyno tuned

honda motors make the most power around 8 grand or low 9's, atleast from what i've seen

it'll handle the occasional 9.5 rpm rip....but I wouldn't do it often, even with a built head AND block I don't reccomend giving ANY car 9.5 rpms and higher a whole lot.
Honestly I would set the rev limiter to like 9300 to be safe, but it'll handle it.

i set it at 9125 just to be safe side
and i barely rip it to 9000..
but yeah you can rev it to 13000 rpm your bottom end will be ok..
i hope you blow your motor doing that

Those cams will not peak above 8500 with that header and a stock head, so no reason to revv that high.

revving out the stock block isnt the best idea.
put it on a dyno and set the limiter at peak hp. but if its still making power past 9K I would stop there on a stock block. I doubt it will make power past that anyway on stock compression.
your stock rods will end up looking like this and trust me you do not want this...

agree. focus on hp instead of high rpm. revving the car faster doesn't mean you're going to make more hp.. but you're definately going to put extreme wear and tear on drivetrain by doing that.

Why put a limit on the revs? Just keep going until you want to shift! Me, I personally wouldn't take it much past the stock redline.

I don't know why people are so fascinated with RPM's. Alot of people in the S2k clique don't liek the AP2's because they only have an 8k redline. I had an AP2 and I know for a fact that it was quicker than my friends AP1 stock to stock with a 9k redline. People just need to stop being so hung up on how high they can rev. Higher does not always mean more power!

reason why im interested in a higher rev limit is because of the cams. if the cams make power past the stock redline, then it should be revved higher. if the cams peak at stock redline, then yes theres no reason to rev higher.
