Default ? about LSD

Can a worn out LSD act almost like a worn out clutch ? as far as shifting gears hard and getting tire spin?

(ex. a worn out clutch shifting hard, and getting no wheel spin.)

LSD are a set of straight and helitical gears...theoreticall, I suppose you can wear them like and othe gears, but i would think that the LSD wouldn't wear as easily as a clutch disc, which is some compressed composite material, would under harsh conditions..

Dpnds on what kind of LSD you have. If you have the Type R stock differential than no. This is a helical gear differential that really does not wear out like Miraz said. But if you have an aftermarket LSD like KAAZ/Spoon/ATR, Cusco, Mugen. These are Clutch Type or Plate LSD which can wear out and the internals must be replaced.

Edit: I think after a Clutch Type LSD wore out it would just act like an open differential...

i have a itr diff...so yeah...i think that it is my clutch that is worn out...thats the reason for the light chirp from the tires when shifting hard, but the diff still worries me...

Maybe your tires are worn out or you just have a damn lot of power...
