I think its a good price for a mint 97 with only 4500 miles. Sheesh people are selling their 2000's for $28K, and 97 is the year to get if looking for a used one.

way too much considering i bought my 97 less than 2 months ago for 15k and it has 11k miles on it. Hell book value is only about 12-14k.
boba- who says tell your friend to come off the price and it will sell.

yeh but 21k for a car thats 4 years old. I think i paid too much for my 97, but i wanted it. You can find used 01's for 21k dollars and still have 4 years of warranty left. Just my opionion, which most of the time doesnt mean ****.

Yes Boba did get extremely lucky. I have personally seen a 98 ITR for 31,000. Book value might be low but book value doesn't mean a lot for this car seeing as how it is a collector's item.

Is it this one? http://www.tegsportracing.com/eston97r.html
If so...
I personally think its worth it. I've seen the car, and it is in better shape than most you will find. Boba Fett found one helluva deal, and the person selling it obviously didnt know what they had. The 97's are the rarest of them all, and yes, the car is 4 years old, but what does that really have to do with it? Its only got 4500 miles, and is very well taken care of. Its in better shape than many of the 2000/2001's that are for sale.
My vote:
You can eat off the engine!

thats way too much, i agree with boba. their are 00" R's anywhere from 19000 on up. 97's should go for 15000 and below.

I think $20k for that 1997 ITR is more than fair. Try to talk him down from $21k. I would buy that car for $21k only if I had some $$$ lying around. Can't go wrong w/ CW ITR though.

only if u are going to keep it forever and treat it in the same condition the previous owner has (ie. future collector's car, not to be driven often). otherwise you're better off finding a newer one.

It would be nice to see the Type R hold its resale value, just like its big brother... Have you seen an NSX selling cheap lately??

You can get a 91 NSX for around 28 grand. I dont really consider that holding its value.

I'd say for a 10 year old car, the NSX holds its value!! Lets hope the R does too.
PS - Boba, lets not turn this into a pissing match. I just hope you arent on a mission to lower the resale value of our cars by broadcasting how insanely cheap you got yours for. If you were selling your car, I think you would be singing a different tune.

I really think 21k is fair for that car. I mean, find another 97 R with less than 5000 miles on it. If I had the $, Id buy it too. Hell Id consider trading my 2001 R for it!

I would trade my 2000 PY R for that white one now. There's no question in my mind that it's worth every penny. Unfortunately though if someone needs a loan, which most of us would, banks will never give you an amount close to that for a 97. Sucks, but it's true. Believe me, I've checked

That price is good (only if it is mint condition as stated). Which book is giving the 97 ITR that low of a value? A lot of those books dont even know that there was an ITR in 97. Are you sure it was for the ITR or GsR?
I have seen some 97 ITRs for 14-16k and they look pretty beat up to me(they had new parts and old parts, signs that the motor blew up or something), cant imagine one that sold for 12k.
Also you got to remember How much ITRs sold for in 1997(when dealers had fat mark up on them). A lot of them around me sold for $30k, so the price could reflect its true condition.

That's a great price for a mint '97.... you could reck it the next day and the insurance co. would give you at least 23K for it if not more..... duh......
