Wow, ya'll are acting childish.
It's pretty easy to tell that the car is in GREAT shape and that nothing has been painted on it.
I mean, look at the paint on the bolts in the engine bay. Nothign has been tampered with.
It also doesn't have ac, or I can't see it form the pics.
Does it have the lower performance bar brace welded in?
Gussets in the rear tailgate region?
This car is still worth some money because it's the prototype of our production cars. Contact Acura and work a deal with them on getting a factory motor setup for the car.
I wish my R was in that good of shape.

the only thing that troubles me is that 96 Rs Integras didn't have abs......so why are there abs wires zipp tied up? I recently sold a white 96 Rs as well and don't remember it having the wiring for abs? maybe it did?

Great find. Thanks for sharing, RPM.
You definitely own a piece of history. Definitely a collectors item that will only be appreciated as time goes by....
I, too, came close to buying a "factory car" (97 ITR w/ 3k miles) a few years back that was released from Honda corporate back in 2003 which was purchased by an employee of Honda. I almost thought this was the car that was I about to purchase as the front lip was scraped on the passenger side like yours, however, the one that was available was #'d and had a B18C5.
Keep her safe.

Something tells me there might be more to this car than what I know. I am going to try and contact someone from Acura who might know a little more about this vehicle. I'd like to know when the vehicle was produced and why they chose to go with an RS chassis instead of a DC2R chassis. There were ITR's around in '96, why all the trouble to convert an RS when you could have shipped over a real ITR and converted it to USDM spec.

I can't believe how narrow minded and short sided some people are.

Unless the VIN is on those Acura letters, and there's a paper trail PROVING in writing what he claims it is, it's not a collectors car at all. It's an 96 RS with ITR interior, suspension and paint.
There is absolutely nothing special about the car unless it has a real paper trail, and even then, I'm not sure it's anything other than a curiousity.

I don't see VIN tags on the fenders, but can't tell if it's the pics, or if they were removed for the respray.
Everyone who is still calling this an ITR, it's not. Don't compare it to a 96 JDM ITR, or any USDM ITR, there will be differences.

5k mile RS with lots of nice parts (NSX brakes! ITR suspension! Mint interior!) and an interesting history = good.
But it doesn't seem like something that needs to be preserved for all time. To me it just sounds like a neat story to tell people in the paddock, after you K-swap it of course.

Its amazing that new information can still be uncovered about these cars!
This made me chuckle:
This made me chuckle:
I find it pretty ironic. There are so many Fake ITRs out there, countless people have copied the ITR, and converted their rs/ls/gs/gsr or whatever. Only now do we find out that even before there were ITRs, there was already a fake one.......and it was Acura themselves who did it.
