#1492 watched it for 10 years, now its mine!
So I apologize if I get long winded or bore you guys to death, but after 10 years of my good friend owning and caring for 00 #1492, he finally decided to seriously let it go and entrusted me with it. I have owned more cars than i can even remember, mostly hondas and a couple of nissans etc, all of them were purchased bone stock and modified to fit my personal style and interest but the one car that i always dreamed of was a ITR, Im sure most of you guys can relate.
The short story starts about 2 weeks ago, date night with the wife, she asks why I have not been tinkering at the shop much lately. I told her that I have not been very motivated or excited about cars lately, especially hondas.... She asked why and what would excite me (car wise) at this point, I replied "the only car that I get excited about at this point is a type R but the prices are on the rise and I believe I have missed any opportunity to own one by now", Her reply was "well you better get one before its really too late".... man did she have to eat those words lol.
My buddy calls me 2 nights later to let me know he has decided to sell the R and wants to offer it to me first! I know this sounds crazy, but I was out of town that evening and as Im talking to him, a py ITR comes out of nowhere and blasts around the corner across from me in the intersection..... I got chills and took it as a sign that I was meant to buy #1492 even though it was my dream car in my nightmare color lol. So one week later, my wife and I left at 5am to make the 5 hour trip to pick up my Type R!!!! here are some pics, sorry for the quality on some of the pics and big thanks to my buddy Eddie for the sweet pics at the end.
btw, #1492 is bone stock other than ground control coilovers/konis and a comptech flywheel, original paint, clean title with 127,xxx miles
i had to change the oil before the 5 hour trip home just for peace of mind

Thanks man!
Thanks man, it is 2000 #1492
Definitely was worth it, I always wanted a white 98R, but the yellow is growing on me faster than i expected. thanks man!
Thanks man!
I told myself I was going to leave it alone and enjoy it for awhile before i start tinkering but im already feeling the itch and I have alot of spare parts I have collected over the years! I bought these spoon wheels about 4 years ago brand new in the box and swore I would not mount them until I had a type R.... guess its time to mount up!!!! (am I the only person screaming "regulators!!! mount up" silently in my head after reading that? lol)

the oil cap and painted plug cover looked a little tired, so i spiced it up with a spoon gen1 carbon kevlar cover and mugen gen3 oil cap! less than 24 hours later lol

Got these in the mail today!

Thanks! I already thought about coming to expo, especially since its so close this year! I have wanted to attend in years past but since I did not own a R, I figured I would just look like a creep fanboy stalking all the R's there lol. The biggest reason Im not sure about going is because Im much more of a drag race fan and Im not interested in tracking the R at this point and it seems like alot of money to spend to just spectate disclaimer: I do not have any interest in drag racing the R either, just want to enjoy it for what it is and drive it!
Thanks
Thank you!
and THANKS again for all the comments and kind words guys!

yes sir, 16x7 +45 I also have regamaster center caps for them, Im not sure if I want to leave them silver or try and have them anodized black to match the wheels. I know some purist may give me hell for running rega caps on spoon wheels but they are just center caps, not hard to take them off if I dont like them.
Thanks man, Im a fan of your R and your gsr. The gsr was originally your Dads, right? thats such a cool story

You dont need a "vip spectator package", not even sure what that is lol. You can go and watch and hang out for free with a bunch of us idiots. Maybe even get a ride along. If you want to attend the banquet as a guest, its $50 and that probably includes a Tshirt. Also if you want to enjoy the R for what it is, there is no better place than Expo.

Small update, I was hesitant to finally mount these after sitting on them for so many years. I assume they must have been the last or one of the last few bnib sets in the country : (

This is a transgender person that I work with, they are way too close for comfort and way too excited about my wheels lol

Awesome, congrats! Those road trip photos make me miss home (Atlanta). They don't have those big, humid, summer clouds out in California.
