Hi guys,
Just got back from Ben Schaeffer's minutes ago.

Did my 100,000 mile service (valve adj, rotor, cap, etc ...alread has new timing belt), installed front mugen bar, and finally got around to checking the compression.

Numbers were all on the order of: 225-210
(225, 215, 210, 215) cylinders 4, 3, 2, 1
I'm quite happy with these numbers, ... Ben was expecting to see 180's!

Jeff, first of all ... nice numbers!

Someone gave me a fender ding (my first "good" ding ), on the front fender just where Ferraris have that yellow prancing horse emblem, it buffed out ok but still left an indentation ... so I put the Deal's Gap yellow triangle emblem there! Looks pretty good, actually. I figure that's just about where the oncoming vehicle would have hit me.

Hopefully I've "fixed" that tail-out (oversteer) problem by installing the Mugen front sway bar to balance out the rear one.

Hmmmmm - now I know how you were inducing that soooo easily. Wes (white dragon) was just here yesterday & that was the topic of discussion since that was the first time I saw you - doing tail out around the curve while Tony was getting car sick ....

One last note, since the motor was warm we did the compression check before the valves were adjusted.

Hey Ed, when do plan on puttin that motor to rest? 200k?

Probably after my turbo kills it (or when I can afford a rebuild/update, whichever comes first).
Lloyd, 200K would be nice, but I'm afraid I'm too impatient for that.

Then again, it's my daily driver till I decide what to do with my CRX(s).

I didnt know you went turbo....how long have you had it?

I bought the "kit" from Jack (B18CXr) at the expo last year, but it's still not installed.

Maybe I need to practice on my CRXs, first!

Wow, great to hear.

My 94 Ls had 136,000 on it before I sold it and it still ran strong. I don't have the compression numbers but I felt very confident with it when I sold it. Ya know what? The guy, "a friend I sold it to" resold it after another 2 years of less than nice treatment and as far as I know it's still running.

I'm curious just how much shorter the R's lifespan is than the average GSR, with average use and proper service of course? There is sentiment that it will fail earlier than most other Acura's and Honda's. I'd like mine to proove that belief wrong like his is...

I was definately "pleased" with the numbers, and now with the suspension in better shape I'll have to see about doing another track day (VIR Speedtrials?).

My only down side is I'm still running a USDM DC 4-1 and stock b-pipe ....

Budman, are your compression numbers stock or modified (pistons, thin head gasket, etc.) ?? I am getting 235 pretty much across the board with a Spoon 2-ply head gasket and an otherwise stock block and I wonder if I'm on target. Thanks !!

I have not done anything more to the block other than cut the valve cover for access to cam timing gears. All stock internally, including gaskets.

I'm almost at 80,000 miles now. Hope that helps!
