Default 01 Type R Engine problems

Hey guys. I just bought a 01 itr cw (ftmfw) LOL. and i am having some issues with the motor and was wondering if someone can help me out.

i bought the car but the motor had a spun bearing (piston 4).
i had the rear end rebuilt

(all seals, bearings, crank shaft, piston rings etc replaced). had everything put back together but now piston 4 is not holding compression. (btw what should compression be on each cylinder?). i am wondering if the guy that put the motor back together screwed up somewhere. also i seem to be burning oil aswell is this related to piston 4??? any help would be appreciated. thanks.

ring/s. i have the same problem. based on my last motor before kaboom...comp should be around 220+. rings didnt set right. my comp was around 150 all for and not holding pressure and still manage to make it to the track meet and had fun. just blowing alot of smoke and dirty rear bumper.

right now piston 1 2 3 are showing 140 on the compression tester. however piston 4 is jumpin the needle. it goes up and drops right down immediately.

what do i have to do to fix this problem?

Check your valve adjustment. You might have the valves overtighten and stuck open.

yea sry its an 01 cdn r (toronto) with super rare cdm red seats.

i just remembered that the machine shop had hot tanked all my parts including the head while the valves and springs where still inside could this have caused my valve seals to screw up? i remember my mechanic saying something about he didnt change the valve seals yet eventhough i got him it.

It sounds like you might be burning oil if the valve seals haven't been replaced, but honestly it could be a number of things, piston rings, valve seals, valve guides, head gasket.

As for the compression, that sounds like a piston ring problem to me (also would cause oil to burn. I'd take it back to that guy
