Your GSR MPG. Mine might be way off.
99 GSR with a rebuilt 94 B18C1 motor. My mods are AEM Cold air big intake, headers and no Catalytic Converter. I am only getting 22.3 MPG with 80% HIGHWAY driving with NO Traffic.
I don't think the mods can affect the gas so bad. What are your guys MPG?

I am on average with the throttle. I don't hit vtec at all. I also pump premium.
How I calculate is I pump a full 13.6 gallon tanks and run all the way to the light.

try filling all the way till it clicks the first time, drive 100 miles, then refill to first click then recalculate.
also the tanks are 13.2 gallons
also the tanks are 13.2 gallons

my 99 gsr gets about 29mpg on average with 60% hwy. Also, when the light comes on, that means your tank has about 2 gallon left, so you should be divide your mile by 11.2 not 13.2. The best way is to use the tripometer to keep track of how many mile you have gone, and then when you fill up, keep track of how many gallon you filled, then just divide the mile by the gallons.

Are you sure we have 2 gallons left when the lights turn on!? I always thought we have about 20 miles left once the light goes on.

light seems to come on at diff times in each car, do it my mileage rather than by tank and you will have an accurate number

Re: (SkipMic2006)
i usually get 280 miles to a tank going to school and back and places around town, rarely get on the freeway (unless going to the track) and shifting around 3k. hit vtec occasionally to beat traffic

98 GSR gets the same with 60% highway
I'll tell ya though... just ran some seafoam through manifold, crank case, and gas tank... went from 25 mpg to 29 mpg

Bare in mind that the way you drive isn't the only thing that affects your gas mileage, car weight and engine health, wheel size also play a role in your mileages. Check to see if your engine is in good health, enough coolant, enough oil, new oil and fuel filter, check for any leaks, broken seals etc.

Re: (98BabiGs-T)
i bosted my gas mileage to like 30/mpg, by cleaning air filter, changing spark plugs to better ones, the 4 x tip kind and new spark plug wires with lower resistance, and inflating the tires to proper tire specs.

Re: (lsBlaxican707)
Divide the number of miles you drive on a tank by the actual number of gallons you put in the tank to fill it. Do it several times.
On our bone stock '94 GS-R, we get 24-26 miles per gallon in mixed local and highway driving. On a long trip with few stops, we get 29-33 miles per gallon.
And put your catalytic converter back on. Leaving it off gives you no significant advantages, pollutes the air, and makes your car smell bad. And it may be screwing up your ECU.

My GS-R w/ 247K miles still gets 29-30 mpg in the city. I have not calculated it yet doing mostly highway miles since I replaced my O2 sensor a few weeks ago. I did get an improvement in city MPG after replacing it, though.
As for calculating MPG, there is only one accurate way to do it. You have to fill the tank to the brim every time (you can see the gasoline sitting in the filler opening). That's the only way to make sure you fill to the same level every time. Different pumps at different stations click off at different levels, so going by that is not very accurate at all.
I have been going by this method for nearly 5 years now, at every single fill up, so I know my readings are 100% accurate.

I got 31 mpg driving all highway playing with a couple cars. Burns a little oil.
Get mid 20's back and forth to work and town driving. Occaional vtecing but not much on a daily bases.
Shift around 3k and easy on the throttle.

Re: (sauceja)
i get ~30mpg and i'm not exactly easy on the throttle most days. if it's rainy or snowy i'll be real easy, but if its a sun out, windows down day, i let the teg play outside and she likes to play hard

I would probably replace your O2 sensor. O2's don't necessarily go bad overnight, it's a slow decline in performance.
The cheapest I've seen for an O2 WITH harness is from a guy on ebay: quality_auto_parts
