No, as long as you have the correct belt matched with the correct water pump, it will run as if stock. The belts themselves are pretty close, the vtec belts just have a few more teeth, I believe.

the only difference in any of te b series water pumps is the number of teeth on the pump, that is why the belts are different. i think but not for sure it has been a while but there is eather 19 or 22 teeth
ls water pump is 19 teeth
itr and gsr water pump is 22 teeth
and yes the itr and gsr is the same
you must use a gst.itr timing belt with the itr/gsr water pump
same goes for the ls
