Yes, it's hard to believe that a CAI can make that much of a difference. Here's a place with dyno charts for you to look at. http://b16a.com/dynocenter/home.html One person's GS-R went from 133 to 151whp. YMMV.

Pb_Foot, the B18C actually has LESS displacement than the B18B. The gearing and extra power in revs more than makes up for it though.

i understand that the b16 civic si makes upfor its lack of displacement, but what i don't understand is how a pretty stock si will overpower the gsr. i have NEVER, repeat, NEVER, lost to a civic si that had i/h/e up to 100 MPH... 75 MPH when I was stock w/CAI only. I just don't see how the b18C wouldn't slaughter it off the line... afterall, the si isn't exactly known for it's torque.

[QUOTE]The AEM on a 2001 GSR is good for about 7 to 12 hp to the wheels and no loss in tq.

Just buy the AEM cold air and put it on your car and see for yourself. The best way is to just test it out and dyno it on your car. If you dont like it then sell it.

As for power I doubt your'll see a 10hp gain from it, maybe with other bolt ons.

You wont be dissapointed with the AEM tho. IMO

you can hear it on the GSR, but if you have exhaust on there the sounds will get muddied. I never know when my exhaust quiets down and my intake starts wailing.

regardless, it is a good sound

The best sound is when you turn the motor off - you hear the SSSSSSSSSSSsssssSsssss.....(which lasts for about 2 seconds) that sound tells you that the performance gain are not all in your head...

correct me if im wrong, but thats due to it being less restricted (electronically) by being OBD1(up to '95) as compared to OBD2(96+)

Your right, thats why one of my 1st mods was a worked 95 computer w/ adapter harness, that made a noticable difference, right away i could feel the engine pulling harder, and it even sounds different and has alot more low end tq.thats why once i get my mods straight i will dyno with and without the computer.

Doesn't matter if its OBD1 or OBD2 if you're talking about I/H/E. You'll get almost the same result. And each car is slightly different than other cars. Some might be stronger than others. Some might be weaker.

As for the AEM CAI, I say get it. You'll feel your car pull better in the top end, and especially on Cold nights. I noticed a difference when I added my AEM CAI, and noticed a bit more with my Exhaust, and even more when I installed my DC 4-1 header. So I say get it.

If I race a OBD1 '94 or '95 GS-R with I/H/E, with my OBD2 2000 GS-R, I don't have any problem beating them. Hence, the OBD problem isn't great, unless I get into cams, and other such mods...

Man, how can you go on saying it doesn't make a difference, when the guy just said he tried his car with/without OBDI and found a difference. There's now way that OBDI doesn't make a difference; it's been proven that 95 are just way stronger compared to all OBDI cars, and the only difference is the ECU. People can say all they want, OBDI frees up powere with or without better cams.

Ummm if all you are lookin for is a loud intake, and you drive an integra. Just take the lid off of the airbox, the factory intake hose/conical filter is pretty much a short ram anyway. Drive around with it that way until you get tired of the droning noise at highway speeds, then put the lid back on and enjoy the fact that you saved $150 bucks learning that a few HP isn't worth the noise.

Does the OBD1 cause problems passing smog though? Why was there a change from OBD1 to the OBD2?

Does anyone agree with that? Would that give you the same amount of horsepower and sound as an AEM CAI?

so people wouldn't f*ck with the ECU. OBD2 is not programmable

I didn't say horsepower would increase, but you will still lose some low end like an intake, and it is louder than the AEM.
