Default would someone please answer this question

My friend (90 LS) says he can make and ls vtec without putting an actual vtec head like a b16 or b18C. He says the holes right next to the distributor are for the vtec and they didn't put them on the U.S. model integra. Please someone give me a straight foward answer of why he can't do that. Remeber he said he can use the existing head off a 90 ls

honda didn't have VTEC on any model of the integra in 1990 (or any car for that matter). integras got vtec in 1993. no way you're taking a 1990 head and "making" vtec with it.

simple answer.....no...it doesnt work that easily, otherwise EVERYONE would already have done this adn converted......you need among other things ......a b16 or b18 vtec head, a good machine shop who has done a ls/vtec conversion before and someone to put it together for you.....run a search for ls/vtec parts list, and you will see your friend is a dumbass that needs to learn before he runs his stupid mouth

i know the question has been answered , but i just am wondering how in the world did your friend make that conclusion. it sounds to me like he doesnt even know what vtec is and how it works. if he did he would know that the cams, head, etc. are different

Even if it did have the "holes" for the activation rods, he would still need the vtec rockers, vtec solenoid, cams, girdles and ecu. Now even if it was possible to switch all that over, the cams do not mount in the same places, therefore the cams will not fit in the B18A/B head, thus vtec wont work.
