Does removing the tabs in the srs reel cause any problems when re-attaching the USDM wheel?
Is there anyone in the DC Metro area that I can pay to do the install properly and safely?

Not sure, I have not reattached the USDM wheel.

quick update, looked into the resistance factor on the srs plug for any 94+01 drivers side airbag. any 2 ohm resistor plugged into the socket will worka nd turn off the srs light. that way your passenger will have the luxury of getting silk screen and powder burn when you get into an accident.
but here's my question what is everyone doing with the cruise control featurs. where are you moutning them?

Why not, its easier on the motor if there is no load on it

With any steering wheel swap, if it is done right you should always have your horn. The cruise control on this wheel is something else. Mine is still functional (part time anyway) but there is no GOOD way to mount the buttons.
Diameter ? I can't remember, it is larger than the non-srs wheel but smaller than stock.

you can turn the ignition on without turning the car on. The SRS check is done when the ignition is on.

My bad, I confused "ignition on" with "car on"

Your cruise control has nothing to do with your horn. IF you are talking about the JDM SRS wheel, if you haven't destroyed the cable reel, the horn will work same as stock.....just plug the connector in. Like I said the cruise control will not mount on the JDM wheel. There is a velcro panel on the side of the JDM wheel. I have my cruise connector conveniently located behind it and if I am on a long drive I plug it in and velcro my cruise buttons to the side of the steering wheel. If I wanted to be creative I could permanently mount the buttons but in doing so I would decrease the value of the wheel.
Furthermore, regardless aas to whether or not you have your cruise hooked up, your horn should still work.
