why is my engine knocking

Default why is my engine knocking

i got a 96 gsr motor i just recently took out the type r cams it had, and put back the stock ones. this morning i notice a knocking sound comming out the hood, so i pop the hood open and rev the engine and it was making a loud kncoking sound. what could it be?? could it be the cams install wrong or what ???? or something worst

did you do a valve adjustment right after the stock cams were installed again?

i don't see why i need it if i replace the type r's with the stock gsr cams
and when i put the type r's in i did'nt get a valve ajustment and it ran fine for 3 months

A) You need to adjust you're valves EVEN IF YOU GO WITH A DIFFERENT SET OF GSR CAMS....the cams have worn differently then the ones that were in there and there for will need different adjustments.

B) Check your ignition timing(dont be lazy like you were with the valve adjustment, just do it).

C) Stop doing things the half *** way and do things the right way. I cant imagine why somebody would think its ok to put a different set of cams in and not do a valve adjustment, especially considering that you're suppose to do them every 30k anyway.

Well my question would be, if the Type R cams ran fine for 3 months, why take them out?

might be some get away bolts or screw or any piece of ur head playing around inside ur head
