Default Why the hell is this car doing this?

The car used to idle up and down... Just sitting there... It goes up, then down. And annoying as ***.

We had this problem before the recent mods. And its still here.

New intake, cams, fuel rail, fuel regulator.

Any ideas? Ohh yay we just cleaned the iacv and its still doing it. ??????

if you have upgraded cams with giant lobs usually people set their timing to retard. so maybe you should try that see how that works. but i could be wrong about the timing and the idle. sometimes the distributor goes bad. on my obd1 gsr CEL #9 went on for cylinder sensor which is crank sensor inside the distributor. my car idle would drop and go back up and drop for good 10 seconds then my check engine light would go on and it idle like ****. i just recently changed it and it runs real good.

I had this problem on my B16 swap where the idle fluctuates up and down constantly and it was a vacuum leak indeed so check the vacuum lines.

Ohh this sucks then. We have a 97 teg... 97 engine.. And running OBD1.

Which F-ing vacuum diagram should we use?

Or is there something that we are unaware of when going down to OBD1?

Clean the IAC valve at the rear of the inlet manifold before doing anything else, they get gummed up and stick open causing the idle to hunt up and down once the engine is warm.

buy a can of brake cleaner and run the car, and start spraying around the intake manifold, where hoses connect around the throttle body, anything with a gasket or hose up around there, if the car idle goes to normal or dies, there's your leak..

Intake manifold? I would check for vaccum leak first and then try to take off the FITV and screw the white plunger all the way down and see if that helps. Also if you took off any coolant lines you may have air in the system and need to bleed it off.

uuuuhhhh... Maybe check my post again???
But thanks for trying.

Were presently following all vacuum lines and making sure they are all in the correct places.

i had this happen on my gsr. there's a tiny vaccum hose on the back of the engine that's not clamped on, and it slipped off.
