Default Who's got an Excedy clutch?

There seems to be a dearth of information on Excedy clutches out there. Right now I'm pretty much set on the ACT HDSS. And then there's this deal at clutchcityonline.com for the Excedy organic-disk clutch for $250. What's the holding capacity and pedal pressure like? Also, the 3-puck "cerametallic" is the same price as the HDSS. What kind of a workout for my clutch foot can I expect with that?

I have a cable clutch so I'd try to not get something that has too heavy of a pressure plate.

I am in the market for a clutch. Where can I get a good deal on a kit? Excedy, ACT, Clutchmaster, etc.. Which is worth the money and can give the best bang for the buck?

booty-
ive got an exedy in my 94 GSR..the organic one....the pedal is NOT stock stiffness...my friend just got a ACT heavy duty, and my pedal is stiffer than his. I dont know if this corresponds to the grabbing capacity...just to give you some reference. It grabs pretty solid overall.

Exedy is a good clutch. I have run one for the last year.
As for the HDSS and the Exedy, the Exedy has a softer pedal, IMO. As for the 3 puck, I am not sure of any benifits with it. It is rated at the same clamping force as the full face kit from Exedy...

I too have an Exedy 3-puck race clutch and its 4.1 kg chromoly flywheel. This combo is very good. It grabs very well and the pressure is slightly more stiffer than the ITR one. I will give it !

I know WHERE to get em, just don't have much info on em.

Full-face organic disk sounds good. And I now have realized that the reason a search didn't turn up much is because I spelled it "Excedy" instead of "Exedy."

I just visited that site and their Excedy kit does not come with a throwout bearing. Whereas, an ACT kit does come with one. What exactly does the throwout bearing do? What is it's function? TIA

"Effective December 1, 2001, all Exedy racing clutch kits come with a pressure plate, clutch disc, release bearing, and an alignment tool. Shipping on Exedy racing cltuch kits is FREE!"

Release bearing = throwout bearing. It actuates the pressure plate.

You have another bearing in there called both the flywheel bearing and the pilot bearinf. It lets the clutch and flywheel spin. You can get a new pilot bearing for like 30 bucks. Which still puts Exedy way cheaper than an ACT HDSS which you can get for $383 plus shipping from optauto.com.

No, a release bearing isnt the same as a throwout bearing. The T/O bearing goes on the tranny input shaft, and the release bearing goes in the flywheel.

Goddammit there are so many bearings in the clutch. I do know for sure that the release bearing actuates the pressure plate. Is the throwout bearing the same as the clutch housing bearing then?

The latest from clutchcityonline.com:

"Also, 08-800 will include Exedy racing pressure plate, Exedy organic disc, NACHI release bearing, pilot bearing, and alignment tool. Plus shipping will be FREE."

Get with the program. Release bearing IS throwout bearing. Same way people call the 'front main seal' an 'oil pump seal', or 'front crankshaft seal'..

the pilot bearing goes on the flywheel.

I visited the site agagin - Check this out:
http://www.clutchcityonline.com/special.htm
http://www.clutchcityonline.com/raci...ec/08-800A.htm

Check both of those sites out and compare them. It mentions it on one and does not on the other. I called them and it DOES include it. I am in need of one so I ordered one, and it's on the way.

Release bearing is Throw Out Bearing.

Just wanna let everyone know that when you purchase any Exedy racing clutches, you will receive the following (everything you will need to a clutch job):

1. Exedy racing pressure plate
2. Exedy organic/cerametallic disc
3. Release bearing (Throw-out bearing)
4. Pilot bearing (this bearing gets installed on either crank or flywheel)
5. Alignment tool

Those are basically all you will need to do a clutch job unless flywheel is being changed. In case if you are using stock flywheel, make sure flywheel gets resurfaced by a machine shop (DO NOT buzz-grind) using correct spec (most Civics have 0.065" recessed flywheel where most Integras, Si, and Vtec Del Sol have 0.112" stepped flywheels.

it most definitely is strong enough to hold that power. the clutch itself can hold up to 350 HP.............
