Default what needs to be cover when cleaning engine?

ok i picked up some Gunk engine brite and degreaser at autozone and want to use it to clean up my engine bay. my concern is that what needs to be covered while i spray these stuff on my motor and engine bay. i would assume the battery and distributor would need to be covered up since they cant be wet while starting the car back up. what else would i need to cover up also? instruction says to spray and let it sit for 10 minutes then flush it down with a water hose.

Cover you intake filter, (If aftermarket) Your distributor, and that should be good. I covered both when I washed it down. WAIT!! Might not be important, but what do you drive?? with Mods?? just wondering...

Definitely cover distributor, Battery, and yes air intake if aftermarket, also cover timing belt if the cover is not there. Be careful not to spray a powerful stream of water that might get everywhere.

The battery does not need to be covered. Intake and dizzy. Also be careful around the spark plug tubes. I seen a guy get water in them, pull the plug and let it all run in cylinder, and bent a rod cause he tried to start it. If water gets in them use compressed air to blow it out. Also run the engine just lond enough to get it a little warm before you use the cleaner. Makes it work alot better. But dont spray on the exhaust LOL!
