--->What Does This Do?
its number 21 on the drawing, its called an END RUBBER PLATE. I dont have one on my car, what does it do? Im trying to figure out why my shifter can move from left to right while in gear, just like neutral. Ive narrowed it down to, not having that little pin connecting the likage to the rod that comes out of the tranny(I have a nut and bolt), and not having that little U clip. If this thing is gonna help, then im gonna order it with the other stuff from the dealer

#21 is just a metal shield for #'s 15 thru 17, and 30. It's held on by (2) 10mm bolts to the tranny casing.
Nothing extraordinarily special, and maybe not even necessary.
And, that #28 pin is pressed in there really tight. Tight even to make it a PITA to put in and take out. Not slack in tolerance in there. Could be what you're looking for to solve your problem. It's only a few cm's of slack when in gear, right?

thanks for the response. yeah i have a bolt in there and its not exactly the same diameter of the hole, so it does wobble a little. but when im in gear, I can move the shifter back and forth- just like when your in neutral. And my reverse and 5th gear are all the way to the right, more than my friends cars. im also missing that U shaped bracket #1
the bolt is your problem like in vtec alluded to. you need to get that pin (#28) in there to solve your problem. #1 just is a safety measure in case the pin (#28) becomes loose.
yeah i put my b&m short shifter in today, and i put the pin and the clip that was the problem. put energy suspension shift bushings on too. the shift is much better, faster, and less free play.
