yeah thats what would do. have a machine shop take a look at it and go from there you might not have to buy a motor.

Here's my uneducated and inexperienced opinion:

The first step should be to pull the engine and have it inspected by a machine shop. They will be able to tell you the extent of the damage. I would suggest NOT to drive the car if you think a bearing has spun.

Next, if you want to put more money in to it, I'd lightly (or heavily, depending on your burget) build the engine for boost. Then I'd peice together a small turbo setup. I think this would be the best bang-for-the-buck route. Again, all IMO.

The K-swap will have the most potential of the bunch, but I can't imagine that it will be either cheap or easy. If your block is salvagable, I don't see the need to buy another B-series swap. I think a mildly built block with a mild turbo setup and a good tune would make a fun and reliable driver.

Good luck, and make sure to post your progress.

Stop posting, and start doing, if you don't even know the Damage done,
How can you even know what you want to do yet??

And here's a good tip, don't go into debt to replace your motor.

I think from researching getting anouther b18c1 or rebuilding mine is the best way to go..if i have to get anouther block i dont think they can warrenty a built engine or turbo setup....if i rebuilt mine with upgraded internals i think it can be warrentyed. cleanlikejdm lick my ***** i was trying to seer what outher people would do and their opinions it has helped me with researching different ways to go with this.

so local shop gave me a call back today..they can get a gsr motor from NY with 60kmiles for 3000..then however much they charge to put it in and they then supply a 1 yr warrenty...how does that sound? what should a shop charge to do a swap? "he just left it at let me give u a call back ill see if i can get a better price off them"

EDIT- what kind of $ could i get for my blown motor as is..i believe the top end is good..spun main bearing..didnt throw a rod..nothin is believed to be ceized turns over everytime...

~Kid already offered me 500$ i told him id let him kno..what should i expect bc i kno i would get 250-300$ for the vtec head~

It's not worth much more then that, did you see how much it would be to fix it though?

Just get prices assuming you have a main, or spun rod bearing.

rebuild the gsr motor. if you buy another gsr motor its probably not going to be in a better condition then rebuilding. replace all the bearings, rings, seals and you will be good.

and i dont think $4000 is enough to put in a k20.......or is it? i dont know much about k20 and the prices.

It's closer to 10k for everything needed to swap it in.

you need to send the harness/ecu to hondata and get KPRO so they can remove the alarm system and all that stuff, you need custom mounts and axles, and other stuff im sure that im not aware of.

a header, wiring, kpro, fuel system, etc. it all adds up fast especially if you're not doing the swap yourself.

I would just take that $3000 and rebuild your engine. If you have any money left send the block and get it balanced and get head ported.
