Weight Reduction Noticable?
I do not have ps or ac in my integra anymore. They just dont work.So i was wondering if i removed them and all the components, along with the spare and back seat..Would i notice a difference?I havent noticed any power gains with my exhaust and intake so far,but i also need too install my header.Would there be more of a difference from removing those components then installing the 2 bolt ons i have?
It'll make a difference, but its not like you're gonna really feel it all that much. with all the **** in the back ripped out your car is gonna sound a lot louder. If anything it'll be quicker off the line. Gutted its only fractions of a second off your 1/4mile time.
Ya i was just wondering because i raced my friends crx si yesterday. Those cars are so light, thats why i thought there would be a difference.Theres around a 400 pound weight difference in the cars.Even though i beat him,I would just like too improve it further. If i could get the weight down too like a civic coupe i would be happy. Also not gonna gut the car, just remove the rear seat. Then have the carpet go over it,so it looks nice.
I noticed a diff in my hatch when I took out the back seats and my heavy *** speaker box. I lost around 80-90 pounds. I could definately notice. My car is faster of the line and chirps much easier in second.
A/c, power steering, seats, and spare, yes you'll notice a difference, as well as you may gain a few hp by removing the power steering. I've seen a highest of 5hp gained on an Itr from losing psteering(courtesy of the dyno in the Itr forum)
Yeah, it will make a difference but its not something you will probably feel.
I know lots of people who significantly dropped their 1/4 mile time, just by removing weight.

You will notice a difference on your take-offs but not really on your top end. I took out my spare tire/jack/floorboard, carpets/back seats/rear cover panel (probably around 100 lbs altogether, and it has made a noticeable improvement off of the line.
Peopl generally say that every 100 lbs is 1/10 of a second off of your quarter mile, but it is really relative to how much your car weighs. the more stuff you take off, the more of a difference weight reduction will make. I personally think every 100 lbs off of a honda yields 1 1/2 to 2 tenths off of your 1/4, because they are so light already.

I think the difference between a CRX vs. Integra (Si and GSR) is more like 600-800 lbs? 1600 for the crx, and 2400 or something for the GSR (could be less...might be a prelude that left me with that number in my head)...I could be wrong..but I'm pretty sure that it's more than 400 lbs of difference.

GSR ~2600
CRX ~2100
my GSR weighs 2280

his crx is 2170 my ls is about 2600,i dont have my spare and jack and tools in there.I want too get it down too 2300.Im replacing the damn stock header with a dc tommarow.Thats a 20lb diff. Then ac/ps/rear seats.Prolly another 100 or so.I want too get another 50-80 pounds off, anyone know how too do it clean?
Anyways it was a stupid race.It was in the rain and i shifted shitty as hell.It was pouring. Was only a 0-70 race too.I beat him bye about 2 cars but screwed up bad too,I killed him off the line.If it was a good day and a 1/4 mile run about 4 cars i could have prolly.
I gutted my car completely before installing my "JDM lightweight interior" and noticed quite a difference in the cars attitude during hard cornering. The car pulled through the corners easier and felt a little more "tail happy" After the installation of my "JDM lightweight interior" I removed the A/C and power steering and noticed that the car seems to balance a bit easier making it not quite as "tail happy" as before, it's a bit more neutral at the limit.
well if you improperly sized your exhaust you could have lost HP... just remimber to properly reset your ecu and let it calibrate itself after each mod.
