My little brother claimed he made his engage in reverse, in his B16 powered CRX...I wasn't there, but seeing as nothing gear-related effects V-TEC engagement, I don't have any reason to disbelieve him.......

not true
some of the governing factors of the engagement of vtec are that the car must be in gear, and in motion before vtec will activate. that's why you dont hit vtec in neutral.

it should because theres an load on the motor so the vtec can build enough oil pressure. If you need alot of torque, reverse is better. Lower gearing, annnd reverse gear can hold more torque(if ur modded) because the gears are straight cut instead of diagnal cut. thats why in reverse, we get the loud wining noise

So, are you saying that you can or you can't?

If you are saying that you can't, then I will deny that claim. A friend of mine actually engaged Vtec all the way to 7k rpms, while in reverse, in his 00 SH Lude.

He now owns an S2000 so I don't think we will try that again.

I heard that a guy I know with a B16 EG used to kick VTEC in reverse. He snapped axles going in reverse and then slamming it in 1st. He ragged his car so much, power shifting everywhere. His tranny is fucked up and so is his motor. Exhaust sounded like **** too. I haven't confirmed this, but this is what people around town is saying.
