Default Vtec problem :(

I have a 95 Integra GSR with very high compression--13:1 and i am running mobil 5W30 oil. I have a unchipped P28 ecu and have about 2500 miles on the motor now. However i have been getting a good vtec cross over out of it ever since i was done breaking my motor in. All of a sudden im not getting any vtec at all. no check engine lights, oil level is good, wiring is good and un cut. I cant not seem to figure out why im not getting vtec and the only thing i can think of is a bad TPS or that my TPS is not getting good readings. I think this because if i beat on the car with vtec or not the idle surges, however if i do not beat on it the idle is fine. Can anyone help me out with this one? thanks

Make sure your engine temp is not to high! To high engine temp the VTEC will not work. 13:1 comp will increase you temp! make sure you rad is OK. If it is to high and your rad is OK check your thermosat.
Good luck!

its ok to use 5w30 on such a high compression engine ? i mean 13:1 is kinda crazy.
