Default VTEC issue

I have a ls/vtec swap with a stock LS thermostat. My VTEC wont engage unless my temp is above the 2 line on temp gauge, is this because its an LS thermostat or something else?

What 2 line?

Are you referring to normal operating temps?

vtec will not engage until engine is at proper operating temp, not sure what the temp is as my manual is at home

yeah the normal operating temp. My buddies Prelude had VTEC as soon as started it up and got on it, I know that the oil pressure has to be at a certain temp. Was just curious, thanx guys

VTEC will not kick in on a cold motor. You can try to run VTEC to a button but still I highly doubt you'll make any power when its cold. That's normal.

Shouldn't be trying to hit vtec on a motor that isn't properly warmed up anyway.
