Default vtec doesn't hit hard anymore.

okay like stated above i got my engine rebuilt after blowing it up because of a mis-shift. i decided to go N/A with the car. the mods are

MY MODS:
:INTAKE
:DC SPORTS ITR HEADER 4-1
:SKUNK2 MEGAPOWER EXHAUST
:sKUNK2 INTAKE MANIFOLD
:REMOVED P.S.
:REMOVED A.C.
:FLUIDYNE RADIATOR
:CLUTCHMASTER STAGE3 CLUTCH
:GROUND CONTROL COILOVERS
:GS-R TRANSMISSION (FEELS A HELL OF A LOT BETTER THAN MY OLD LS TRANNY)
:CTR PISTONS
:ARP ROD BOLTS
: MNI POWER VALVETRAIN
:SKUNK2 STAGE2 CAMS
:SKUNK2 ADJUSTABLE CAM GEARS
:test pipe
:3 ANGLE VALVE JOB
:MILLED HEAD
:HOT TANKED, HONED
:SLIGHT PORT N POLISH
:WALBRO 255 FUEL PUMP
:TYPE r THROTTLE BODY
: oh yeah and this is a gs-r motor
: running untuned because hondata s200 got stolen and ts driving on a mugen ecu.

Now my question is that when i got it back and did 1500 miles of not going past 3k rpm. I finally decided to see what kind of power it made, when i would floor it in first it would loose traction in first gear around where vtec hits (5800rpm). And any other gear i could really feel the vtec hit pretty strong, it was like a slight jolt of power. Now all it does is a smooth crossover and i dont loose traction in first nor do i feel any jolt of sorts. i can feel it start pulling from 6800rpm all the way to 9300rpm but its just weird a know. I do have a slight headgasket leak could that be the culprit?? People said that my car is not tuned thats why its not doing it but that doesnt make any sense because it did it untuned. any help would be appreciated thank you.
sorry about the long read

get it tuned, and FYI vtec shouldnt hit "hard" it should actually be rather smooth

it's weird how the "feel" in vtec would change without doing anything. Usually people come on here complaining that vtec doesn't kick as hard AFTER they've been tuned. but yes, a properly tuned motor should not have any "kick" at all during the vtec crossover. Usually with an untuned motor the vtec crossover WILL kick hard.

yeah well you see the shop that was doing my setup was broken into and my hondata was there while my car was being built. but i considered myself lucky because the thiefs only took a bunch of money and little things and my hondata. they didnt touch any of my mods or parts. along with other cars.

And if you say that it shouldn't hit hard then your probably right, thats why im asking the question. but what i dont unerstand is that the car doesn't lose traction in first anymore along with a harder crossover.

and yes i need to get it tuned but i had to move down here to florida with family and the shop is in virginia. im going back up there to get it tuned because they owe me a hondata

so if i get it tuned it will definetly run better but the vtec crossover will be smooth. I was thinking that myabe its doing that because there is more than enough torque when vtec should hit so there wont be that big of a difference. you think the head gasket leak has something to do with it?? its only a slight leak

the leak certainly is helping anything...

you cant really judge how well youre motor is running by how "hard" vtec hits or if you lose traction..theres a lot of variables included in breaking traction..not just the motor

its probably just me then. like you stated there has to be variables in order to do lose trac. The car still runs strong and i cant wait to get it tuned and replace headgasket thanks a lot

maybe it took the ecu some time to tweak the fuel and ignition maps to your setup. do mugen ecus work like stock ones when you reset them? anyone know?

tune it now, you actually shouldnt be driving it untuned, your A/F might be all fucked up, hurting your motor and power.

i.e. my car while being tuned after changing to the right spark plugs got me 27whp on a dynojet. just from plugs and tuning
