Default VTEC Controller

Howdy all. I have a 94 Integra GSR and I was thinking about buying a VTEC controller. Are these things any good? If so which one is the best?

Also, what is the best rpm to set them to? I was thinking about 5 grand or so. If you set it too low, is it bad to be driving in VTEC mode? Like in 5th gear? Thanks for the help.

there is a search button on the top right side of the screen. Please use this.
Try searching:
apexi vafc
apexi vafc2
fields vtec controller

this will reflect sales/problems
the question your asking is just like if the big whale tail wing is going to look good on your hoopty. If I don't know what your hoopty has going on I can't give you reliable advice. Fill me in with car set-up and what are you future plans with the engine. NA/FI Bolt ons....planning on installing cams?
With a stock setup or mild bolt on set-up a vtec controller is just bling in my opinion. There is no reason to change vtec x-over because it is optimum for a un-cammed setup. The main reason you would want to change when vtec kicks in is, FI(major increase in power changes where it needs to change over), cams(they will need to be tuned and vtec most likely will have to be pushed to a higher rpm).

My car is stock except for a Greddy EVO exhaust and an AEM cold air intake. Just looking for a little feedback as to what people think of these controllers.

Thanks.

with your setup I would suggest finish with the bolt on's and get yourself a header unless your thinking about going turbo. How is the suspension setup coming, if you can't get the power to the ground there is no reason for increasing the power.

If I just added the controller to change the VTEC crossover to 5K instead of 6K, would that get me better performance off the line? Sometimes it just takes forever to get to the VTEC range. Especially if you are in second gear and want to get up and go. Usually switching back to first just isn't an option. Say at 20 MPH.

Just because you make vtec kick in early doesnt mean you'll go faster. If anything you'll go slower. If youre buying it just to change your vtec point dont even bother wasting your money. Its meant for tuning your mods to full potential... not for mAd VtAk EaRly EnGanGEmEnt Yo!
