is it possible to fit a vortech system in my 91 ls teg? and is a turbo better or a supercharger?

im not sure if they make a vortech for the G2 tegs but with a lil modifications.. can one for the G3 teg fit into the G2?

do they make a Vortech system for your car?

I've always been told

Supercharge for the lowend off the line grunt

Turbo for the serious crazy topend power.

Really cant go wrong with either.

I dunno if they make a system for your car or not. However, if I were in your shoes, I would go turbo. JRSC's on LS's dont make much power at all, I dunno if the Vortech system would be the same or not, but you will make more hp with the turbo. I guess the question is are you willing to spend alittle more and sacrafice some reliability?

Do not get the vortech. Buy either a turbo or JRSC theyre both way better then the vortech.

Id also like to know. Unless the Vortech system is less reliable than the JRSC, I dunno why hed say that. Im sure it make more power than a JRSC.

My friend has a 99 LS with a vortech kit and its not that impressive. He has the aftercooler also. Besides the vortech kit and fuel system hes got 2½ exhaust piping, dc ceramic headers, Jun lightend flywheel and an ACT clutch i cant remember which stage. At sac raceway his best time was a 15.2 he isnt a bad driver either. One of the ITR owners on this forum saw his run in person to. Its just not impressive for the amount of money hes put into it. A mildly turboed LS will outdo it alot. Ive heard of alotta nice gains with GSRs runnin JRSC's and im willing to bet they will be better then the vortech kit for an LS. Its just not worth it, its a shaft driven turbocharger. Its got lag which is usually the reason ppl dont want a turbo and get a supercharger. The top end is decent but peaks out quickly, its still not impressive compared to the capability of a real turbo setup. As for reliability hes had it go down on him twice within 4 months to due some of the fabricated parts from the factory breakin. Nothing with his engine. under 5k it feels just like a normal LS. Reliability for a turbo i do not know since ive never had one myself im sure many ppl on this forum can answer this. As for the JRSC from what ive seen they look reliable to.

Vortech is the worst of both worlds. Lag and parasitic loss...simple as that. It provides decent top end power, but if thats what youre looking for, go turbo. A turbo kit will offer you MORE power potential with LESS lag and a MUCH smoother powerband. Can a Vortech charged car be fast? Sure. But if youre looking for maximum power, go turbo. If youre looking to make great power and have a flat powerband with no lag, go JRSC. Vortech just doesnt fit in anywhere.

Dont get me wrong, it makes the car a blast to drive with pretty awesome top end. I just dont see the benefit, mainly due to price. If the kit wasnt so expensive, it would be interesting. I wouldnt spend $4000 on it. There is a guy on ClubSi with a pretty impressive, powerful and fast Vortech Si. He knows it cost him more than a comprable turbo setup would, but is happy with his results.

Would I buy it? No. Does it have great potential as with any other form of FI? Absolutely. Is a Vortech SCd car quick? Sure. Just not my cup of tea.

this is interesting tho'...anyone got dyno charts for the Jackson Racing and the Vortech say on a B16 or B18C stock motors so that we can compare them together to see the differences (try to get apples to apples if we can)? I'd like to be schooled on this one.
