Default valvetrain?

I am doing the head on my turbo GS-R this winter. I am going to use ITR cams. I was thinking of using Skunk2 valves, springs, and retainers. Has anyone had any problems with this setup? My goal with the car is 550whp and be able to rev up to 10K. Will the Skunk2 valvetrain work to do this reliably or would a RM valvetrain be better? I am up for any suggestions of what kind of valvetrain I should be looking at. Also would it be safe to use OEM camshafts with the aftermarket valvesprings?

if you wanna rev anywhere near that high make sure u invest in some safety...stronger headgasket + arp head bolts...kinda suicidal if you ask me, and pretty pointless with itr cams regardless, good luck

His engine is completely built. No problem on the safety.

i hope ur go n turbo if u wanna get over 500 HP. if ur go n turbo, just stick with the GSR cams. also dont get the skunk2 valves. they are known to crack! i've seen it 1st hand on my friends car. skunk2 valves
the springs and retainers will probably handle that power.

I already have a turbo but and putting together my own set up, like the Full Race stage 4. I am thinking about using the Rocket Motorsports valves, springs, and retainers. I have a GS-R so I am either using those cams or I am going to try the ITR cams. I have read that the factory cams are great and the ITR's cam hold power up to about 9800rpm with proper tuning. I am just trying to find out if it is going to be a good setup, and make power throught the rpm range and able to rev 9800 rpm reliably at the strip.

ITR cams do not make power till that high in the band and they will be of no use in that combination. You are trying to mix both NA advantages with FI advantages. You don't need to rev to 9800rpms with a turbo motor. Pro's don't rev that high. ITR cams will help get more airflow into the motor, but I wouldn't suggest going any higher than 9000rpms. Rocket makes a good product. You didn't mention anything about porting and a valve job. Porting will make a drastic difference in the way your car performs. Ferrea makes good valves that stand up to the test of time. You might wanna try asking about this in the forced induction section because they might be a little more helpful there in helping you get your setup how you want it.

I know of people that run high rpms on boosted Hondas. I am looking for a high rpm valvetrain because i am going to be spooling a large turbo. I just want to know some possable valvetrain possablities that some people have run and if there are any complaints with anything they are using.
