Put the correct valve cover back on. Your car is smoking and running bad because you are sucking oil into the intake. Get the right valve cover and then clean your throttle body out. Open it up and spray a little cleaner into the intake manifold too. Just make sure you are outside or hooked up to an exhaust hose when you start the car after you're done.

No need to replace the manifold. You might not even have to clean it, but if there is any oil buildup in the throttle body or manifold you will be blowing blue smoke for a while. Just put the right valve cover on, make sure your breather hose and PCV are hooked up correctly, and then get some throttle body cleaner at the parts store. Take off the intake tube, spray the trottle body down some, then open the throttle so you can get the backside of the blade and the inside of the manifold. Fire up the car (it might take a little to start, you'll probably have to put your foot to the floor and the engine will run like crap for about 30 seconds) and watch how much more smoke your car blows for a minute or too. If you've never cleaned the TB out before you'll probably notice better throttle responce too. Let me know how it works out.

Engine won't idle right if it's sucking in oil. You know that you have an incorrect part on your engine (the valve cover), start by changing that and see if it fixes all your problems or just some of them. If it only fixes some, report back with your new status and we'll work from there.

WTF!

Just use the correct PCV hole, and plug up the PCV hole on the valve cover.

You could do that, I was always a fan of fixing stuff right though. That's why I fix cars for a living. Either way will work though.

Did you put your PCV back to the original place?
It should connect to a plug hole on your Intake Manifold runner. You chould see the hose then go connect down to a black box behind your engine block.

Spitting out water from your exhaust is normal.

sorry to butt in. But i think im having the same problem with the pvc. When i bougth the car the charcol canister and pcv hose were disconected. I connected everything and i had no smoke no more. But my cars idle drops up and down. the pvc hose is connected but its a crappy job. Somebody just ripped the hose and attach a new one over the ripped one. Dose any one know why my idle drops up and down. (it dose not do it all the time just somtimes). What can i do.

yea i did all that. the pcv pipe runs down behind the block now. but it is still sputtering out a lot of smoke. when i first bought the car it had like a quart of oil in it. i drove it fine for a a while and then i out another 4 quarts into the engine. then right after that it just started to smoke really bad. is it a bad ring or something?
