Default Unknown Intake System

For going all motor, I have a question regarding Air Intake System.

Most people would usually go with CAI or a SAI from AEM or other such companies out there.

On the other hand, I visited a near by autoshop here and I spotted somewhat a unusual Intake System that I'm not familiar with.

I kept asking the employee there and he seems like he doesn't know crap either except that he kept saying " It's a intake system "

I know for a fact it fits my 91 LS but I'm not sure if it's worth 160 bucks for one.
I tried my best to get the name of it or what it's called online but I can't seem to find the actual name.

I would really like to know what it's mainly called so I can do a search online and see some powergains or powerloss.

Here's a picture of how it looks like. There's no filter at the end of the pipe. It just looks like a open cylinder cone

Thanks guys.

is that the kind that stays under the hood, or does the end stick outside the car?

its not worth the 160 if there is not a high quality filter on it. You dont need dust in your combustion chambers... or worse, a rock

It stays under your hood exactly like a CAI or SAI system, instead it doesn't use a filter

Here's a few more pictures of how it looks like when it's connected.

They look a little different than the previous 1st picture I posted, but that's the closest I can come up with that looks sorta like it.

I'm still not sure what it is...

look at the design of the horn...it is shaped that way for a certain reason....you familiar with fluid dynamics/ air flow?? It maximizes the flow of the air by its design and contour...FAR more sophisticated than your bling AEM

it maximizes the velocity at which the air can go through the pipe unobstructed...cant get any more simple than that

I'm in Elk Grove, The shop I went to is the one near Arden. I was referred there by a friend.. I believe they tuned alot of Supras,240sx,EK9. I forgot the name of it now, I was at Ardenmall and happened to stop by it. It's the shop with the Limo services in the back and some sort of ATV video center behind it.

Can't retouch on the name of it though. I heard it's very reputable shop in Sacramento.

Yepp I noticed a big difference in looks also. I just wanted to know what it was called so I can do a search online on it for more info. Thanks

Did a V stack search on google, seems like they used these in drag cars and they're getting out pretty good numbers rather than CAI. They produce a 4-8 more HP is what I found out..

ya because v -stacks are built to cater to needs of a different crowd ...whereas AEM is looking for the ricer brigade
