Default Type R ecu

My friend is going to give me a type r ecu from his old 2001. I was looking into buying a OBD2-OBD1 conversion for my 98 gsr and buying hondata. If I just buy a harness and socket this ecu since hondata is standalone will it work perfectly fine? Or should I just look to try and trade someone for a socketed OBD1 ecu? TIA

I thought you still needed an OBDI ECU with HOndata ? In that sense, I wouldn't call it pure stand alone.

But, anyways, you'll probably be able to fine tune better with the hondata and an apropriate tuner, but that would depend on what's done to your GS-R and what you plan on doing to it.

yea, you must use an obd1 ECU.

on a sidenote, I have a harness if you want one.

And, his 01 ITR ECU wouldn't plug directly in. You would need a conversion harness for it.
