Default Trouble bleeding abs

I want to remove the brake lines in my engine bay in my 95 GSR. I tried bleeding the abs system, but everything I've read says to be very careful loosening the bleeder valve, because its extremely pressurized. The chilton also says to unscrew it about 1/4 turn. Well, I've unscrewed mine about 1 1/2 turns, and nothing's happening. Am I suppost to pump the brake pedal, or should the fluid just drain out automatically? I also heard I can just unscrew the brake lines from the master cylinder without de-pressurizing the abs. Anyone thats done this, please school me.

it would be good if you had two people, easier, and one can loosen and tighten thenut while the other person pumps the brake pedal

So I loosen the bleeder valve on the modulator unit, then pump the brakes to collect the brake fluid?

1) Attach a hose to the ABS bleeder and insert the other end into a collection jar.
2) Turn on the key to pressurize the ABS system.
3) Turn off the key.
4) Open the bleeder and allow for the fluid to drain out.
5) Repeat steps 2-4 until all of the fluid is removed.

1) Refill the ABS reservoir with fresh brake fluid.
2) Turn on the key to pressurize the ABS system.
3) Turn off the key.
4) Open the bleeder and allow for the fluid to drain out.
5) Repeat steps 1-4 until no more bubbles escape from the bleeder.
6) Top off ABS reservoir.

You can double check the Helm.

I have these exact instructions in my chilton. My problem is that I connected a hose to the bleeder valve, then unscrewed it 1 1/2 times, to where its almost gonna screw completely off into my hand. No fluid drained, and yes I can see fluid in the modulator unit. Another problem is that its just a rolling chassis, with no ecu, no battery...so turning the key wouldnt do anything. How can I safely remove the hard lines from the master cylinder, given these circumstances?

I misread your post. Opening the bleeder on the ABS relieved the residual pressure. You should be safe. Turning on the key is what repressurizes the system.
