Default Transmition problem

Got a 99 gsr. All stock. I seem to be having a little trouble shifting into gears. When I first crank up I'm the morning it's pretty smooth but after about 5 minute drive its fairly hard to shift into gear. Going up or coming down. However I did notice this morning that while shifting up if I tap the gas just barly it's goes right into the next gear. I think it does the same when down shifting. If I get the rpms right it shift right into place. Sorry if I didn't explain good. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your clutch fluid level and check for a leaking master cylinder. Look under your dash where the rod goes from your clutch pedal into the firewall. Is that leaking?

I was actually under there yesterday. And if I remember right I did look a little wet. Soon as I get a break at work I can go check it out.

Lol that was my next question how do I bleed the system. And it's not super low. I don't have anything to fill it up with. It will make it to the store when I get of work though.

Is there an aftermarket slave cylinder and if so would it be worth installing?

NO not for a slave OEM or autozone/napa brand works just fine. takes dot 3 or 4 brake fluid just in case you wondered. how to bleed it there's a DIY in the sticky FAQ afaik if not google search you'll find it in a fiew seconds.

I was just looking at the pieces online. What's the difference between a master and slave. The piece I looked at under the dash looked like that master.

when you bleed be patient, you will probably do the process 15-30 times before you start to get any feeling in the clutch pedal

then you are only about 25% done lol

Alright lol. And I was reading on a DIY thread that someone told me about and I'm a little confused on the bottle thing. And the bleed down I was tracing he lines today. And the bleed down is on the slave on the tranny right. Cause I had kinda lost myself on that part also. But after looking at it today I believe I got it figured out. Just want a little more understanding if you don't mind.

I take a clear tube put it on he bleed off. And put the other end in a clear bottle ( any bottle? ) with about an inch of brake fluid in it right? So that I can see the bubbles coming out. Have someone pump the clutch about 5- 6 times them hold it. And open the bleed off till air stops coming out close bleed off and repeat till no air come out at all right.

UNTILL you have feel in the pedal** don't just go by air. there was a thred on here where someone bled it multiple times and the pedal was still dead. here it is https://honda-tech.com/forums/showth...3#post48627943

Ok so I changed the master cylinder today. Bleed system with help from someone. Pedal felt right and no more air coming out. So I'm ready for a test drive clutch catches good shift was deffinantly easier. Drove around cruising for a little bit. Then I noticed when higher speeds and higher rpms it woul still be hard to go into third. So I went to a back road to open her up. Started in second. Going into third it just grinded a little so I went back to neutral. Then slowly went Into third it was hard but went in. Got back on it went to shift into fourth and same thing I left it in neutral and was gunna try pumping clutch. Pedal was limp and with pedal all the way to floor the clutch woul barly engage. No even enough to put it in gear. So I had to try and make my way home without stopping. So what could be the problem now.

Synchros and/or synchro rings may be getting wore out.

that will be the cause of the grinding but his pedal is "stuck" to the floor which means he's lost his fluid via a leak either in the line or the slave.

Do you feel like pulling you'r tranny then pulling the gears out ?. Not exactly "easy" i wouldn't worry about it you'r better off swapping a new tranny in if it ever gets bad enough.

Ok I'll get a new slave cylinder tomorrow. If tey have one in stock. The arm the goes into the tranny does that clip into something in the tranny or once I unbolt the slave cylinder the whole thing will just come off.
