Default transmission problems

My car shudders when I engage the clutch in first gear, it feels like it wants to die, like I am not giving it enough gas, but I am. And it is now hard to shift from gear to gear, is it time for an overaul, or is it a clutch spring, or syncros, or what?

Also, when the syncros go bad, what part of the transmission needs to be replaced, or fixed.

check ur clutch fluid (small reservoir next to master cylinder)
u may be low in fluid. replace with honda OE brake fluid
as for synchros, usually u get a grind when shifting into a specific gear
u can replace one at time but usually its easier to do all of them.

hope its nothing major, there goes ur alarm, tint,etc....if it is
go to dealer for them to check out ur clutch

I got the tint, but I think it is screwed, I will check the fluid level in the morning.

I have a little paper on clutch symptoms and the explainations, but it's at home. I'll maybe try to scan it later and put it up.

thanks for all the help. Would having the wrong transmission fluid in the tranny cause difficult shifting.

Yeah, having the wrong fluid does make it hard, but not THAT hard. I was running plain 5w30 for a week without anything breaking. I switched to Honda MTF as quickly as possible, however. I would change to MTF if you haven't already.

Hmm...after reading the whole post, I have some stuff to add.

I would say that the symptoms would point to either a broken clutch spring or a broken release system somewhere. Check your master cylinder and slave cylinder first to see if everything is working there, but you may have to drop your transmission and replace the clutch. If you are mechanically inclined, you can probably do the clutch yourself. http://www.c-speedracing.com has a great tutorial on this. If you have any questions, post them here or IM me, as I have gone thru this same type of situation a while ago.

it has been about two weeks, and I am going up to the shop that changed it the first time, and ask them to change out the fluid to either GL3 which is what they were supposed to put in, but they were out, or have them put in the honda stuff.

Have them put in Honda MTF. This is one of those things where aftermarket is not necessarily better.

I agree with Phat GSR. Probably a broken spring retainer. Original clutch? The symptoms sound like that. If the master / slave cylinder don't pan out, you will have to drop the tranny to diagnose. In that case, just plan to replace the clutch.

anybody have info on how to locate the master and slave cylinder, and how to check them, to make sure they are working. my fluid levels are fine, but if it isn't releasing all the way, then the slave could be the problem, but I am not sure how to tell if it is or isn't working correctly.

when you say isnt releasing all the way, do you mean the clutch? because my clutch doesnt feel like its releasing all the way sometimes and i never have replaced my slave cylinder, if the slave cylinder causes a problem like that i think im going to do it this weekend.

there is an adjustment that you can make on the heigth of the pedal, you can read about it in a haynes manual. However, upon further inspection of my symptoms, I have figured that it is just a worn spot on the flywheel and the synchros are gone, and burned up, I figured this out because it is only hard to get into gear, and it is harder to get into gear the faster I go, so the speed difference between the tranny shaft and the engine revs is drastically off, due to the syncros are worn out, and making it harder to shift the faster I go. I also read that when the slave cylinder goes out, it causes a complete failure and loss of ability to shift at all, and when you put it in gear, whether or not the clutch is ingaged, the car will stall.
Does anybody know where the cheapest place to buy a type R clutch and flywheel would be. thanks

What do you mean by that??? Are you saying that they are the same mechanism?? If so, then I'll have to disagree. If not, please specify what you meant. Thanks!
