tranny problem
well its been a while since i posted on here ..but i had a few questions and i need a few opinions... Well i went to a shop in the central florida area to get a price on a turbo kit.. so .. i want to make sure my car was ready for this kit -- so we checked the whole car and then it happened-- recently i changed my axels and the left side that connects to the tranny is fine but on the the right side the black housing is slighty moving back and forth...(when in gear and you let your foot off of the gas a ratteling is heard) ..so my machanic told me it might be the diff.. he wont know till he takes the tranny down (= $350) ... so my question is should i just "rebuild the tranny" ... or just get a type R tranny? or a b16 tranny?is it poss that a lsd could fix this? im kinda leaning towards a type r tranny but im not quite sure which route to take.. thanks ....Jay
b16 with lsd....or you can pay for the hype R and get the SAME EXACT GEARING with a factory lsd...only for shitloads more money...(HINT: its not worth it)
What black part are you rocking back and fourth? On the axle? The inner CV joint? I highly dought that it is your diff, unless you have pieces missing off of the ring gear and or spider gears. I ususally see diff failures associated with one wheel burnouts , things of that nature that destroy the ring gear and the main shaft. Does the tranny make noise at idle ? It could just be an input shaft bearing. If you need help rebuilding it , I could take a look at it but I am in WA.
tranny? does your tranny make knocking noises at idle? is it hard to put in gear, does it make a clicking noise while movig foward. you might just need a new axle. get it looked at somewhere else and see what they say
