Track Problem
My friend (Xaosone) has a 98 GSR and his best time stock was 15.5.
We took the car to the track today after getting a 2.25" catback exhaust, an air filter and falken azenis. For some reason he ran worst times than he did when he was stock, and was getting a lot of tire spin and wheelhop launching at 4k rpms...
I drove the car too and try launching at 3k Rpms and still got a lot of wheel spin..
Best 60ft of the night was 2.4, and the best ET was 15.6 with a 2.5 60ft.
Could there be any special reason that he is getting all this wheelspin and wheelhop. I even chirped 4th gear..... We though the azenis were supposed to stick to the ground, and the exhaust would have helped his times...
Any tips on eliminating the wheelhop???

azenis stick to pavement, but not rubber.........lower tire pressure, and how new are the tires, break them in wear of the top slick layer of tread on them
you're getting wheelspin because the track is covered in burned rubber. you need softer tires (or lower tire pressure) to hook up. Stiffer motor mounts (or inserts) will prevent the bouncing.
Yeah, I had the same problem. 1/4 mile strip conditions can vary quite a bit. I know a guy who ran a 16.6 up here in a LS with I/H and gutted interior, then I beat him the next day and I was hardly trying. 16.6 is actually not a bad time here at 5820 ft. I went to the track thinking I could run 16.5 or better easily. Well, my best was 17.1 @ 83 mph. It was quite embarrassing, but it was so hot that day that no one was doing well, and the condition of the 1/4 mile strip is significantly different than the street. All of my launches sucked big time, and the intake was sucking up really hot air until I got up to a decent speed. 17.1 was also the time of a Cavalier Z24 that I absolutely killed like a week before on the street, but he seemed to be able to launch at the strip. On a better day, b18cya's GS-R with I/E ran a 15.7 at the same track.
So, don't put too much into 1/4 mile times. It really isn't a good measurement unless the comparison is against cars that ran at the same track on the same day.

PS: it wasnt hot at the track ......
thanks for the help.
Well, I got the Azenis and got 2.2 out of them. I kept the tire pressure at 30psi, did not do any kind of burnout, did not drive threw the water, and dumped it at 3000rpm. I have a stock LS motor though. Grabbed damn hard. I did a 4000 rpm lauch at the track and just got wheelspin(2.6 60'). If you got wheel hop then most likley the tire pressure was too high, or you have really worn motor mounts.
