Re: Top speed for an LS? (B18C-EJ1)
I hit 135 in my GS, but then gave up cause the car was too shaky with my 17" rims on, but it definately could have gone much faster.

135 in a GS automatic?? That must have taken hella days...Honestly I don't think the speedo is accurate at those speeds. What performance mods did you have?

I get my GS-R up to 125 all the time...It still has a lot of room to go. As far as an LS goes, I'd bet you can at least get it to 130, but I haven't driven in many, so I couldn't honestly say.

it did take a while, but it did it. All the car has was an intake at the time. Other than that it was stock. (except the 17" rims making it shaky)

Re: Top speed for an LS? (plugg)
well let's see
my 96 gs-r with 148hp to the wheels I got to an indicated 142mph before I ran out of room. at this time it was accellerating reeeeal slow.
So I don't see any stock LS's getting near there.

Problem is the speedo becomes inaccurate once you hit the triple digit area. You can't get an exact reading.

Will you lose any top end by using a GSR tranny?? Also everyone seems to say its all bout the GSR... is more respect desrved to LS's?? Could we beat a gsr? They say our cars have more low end torque? And in the sport compact world in general are LS's respected... i dont think so.

Re: Top speed for an LS? (Phantom3JT)
yeah i think LS's get plenty of respect... a lot more than say a civic EX. Although my LS only got respect cuz it is boosted, but still... Before boost, I still worked plenty of V8... trucks! Its pretty damn fast for what it is... especially since mine is an automatic. Yes, the B18B has more torque... more usable torque to be exact. The torque curve is a lot more linear than than that of the B18C. Linear = more usable. Exponential = Less usable.
My top speed has only been about 121... but i ran out of room and that was stock. The speedo isnt too accurate, especially when you throw on bigger rims and tires... thats what many truck owners who lift it like 9 inches and add tires the size of a house on have to worry about and they all NEED to calibrate their speedos, but most dont. Unless you ran it stock or used a radar gun to measure, then your speed was probably off.
