for ignition timing you will need a timing light if you already dont have one get it. I got one from advanced auto for 30 bucks but you can get more expensive ones that are digital and have all kinds of features. And from there you should let the car get up to normal operating temps since the ignition is advaced on start up. Also when u look at the crank there will be 3 notches, 2 white/or not colored and a red in the middle. The red is stock timing and the notch to the left is advaced 2 deg and to the right is retarted 2 degrees. When u adjust the distrubitor rotating it toward the front is retarding timign and rotating toward the firewall is advacing. My timing was advanced on my car at 18 deg BTDC and i didnt know it and installed a 55 shot and it hauled *** but its very dangerous so i retarted it to 14deg BTDC which is 2 deg retarted and yes i lost a little power off the bottle and my gas milage went down but its worth it to safly use nitrous
