Default timing problems. help

1990 ls teg. i got my head back on and everything put together after i changed the head gasket. but i dont think my timing was correct with the cams. the one on the right was pointing slightly towards the other cam and it would not start. hopefully i dident mess the valves up or anything. now it is set to top dead center. when i put the belt back on and tightend it the long side of the belt nearest the exhaust manifold was slighty crooked, flat ways if you under stand this. is that belt spose to be flat. any advice would be nice. i have searched but dident see some of the stuff i asked answered. thanks ALSO my distributer im almost positive is out of timing, advanced or retarded. how do i get it back to stock.

the belt is probably your alternator belt making that noise...as for the valve cover, take it off put honda bond on the gasket and put it back on...make sure you torque it to specs

my bro's del Sol made a high-pitched whine one time, turns out the A/C tensioner pulley was rubbing against the compressor bracket, due to incorrect bearing installation in the idler pulley.

alright, i dont think it is a vacuum because i cover the two holes on the throttle body and it tried to die. it kinda surges from 1700 to 2000. up and down then somtimes stays up. and there is no gasket for the vavle cover just this orange gasket maker ALSO, were can you get some extra VC bolts.

theres no ac belt on but ill take a look at the pulley and see whats up. now i have to deal with the oil burning of my eaxhuast mani cause i let oil spew out the valve cover. at least i dont hear tapping or knocking.

found out the noise from the timming belt, it was the cams rubbin agaist the plastic. and i got the car to idle at 700 rpms by messin with the dizzy, but i dont understand why i had to mess with the dizzy cause the timing was on TDC. hhmmmm. plus my hot cold gauge dosent work at all. like i mean dosent even move up or down. could it be something not hooked up to the gauge or the thermostat bad?
