Default timing issues, need help!!!!

my recent post was about an overheating problem. come to find out it was the water pump. i replaced that and the gaskets and now it was time to fire it up. so it wont start now. so i figured that i somehow messed up the timing. i need some help on how to do the timing. can someone please tell me how to time this thing?! thanks.

I could explain it to you but it would be easier for you to search or buy a helms factory service manual. I'll tell you this, if your mechanical timing is so far out that the motor won't start stop trying to crank it... your valves and pistons must be mighty close.

If it doesn't work don;t mess with it because you might bend the valves like me. Unless if your very sure that the teeths are off. Make sure it all the tdc marks line up.

The timing might be off but I hope you are somewhat close because if not, sinced you cranked it over, for your sake I hope the valves aren't bent.

But for informational purposes. put #1 on it's compression stroke. There are a series of marks that need to be lined up(camshafts and crank). once those are lined up, adjust belt tension and you should be dialed.
