Just a quick question... I'm stealing a timing gun from my shop class and first of all... How do you use it? Second.. What do I set the timing to on my car? Thanks

You'll see either 2 or 3 wires coming out from the handle. two of them should be clamps of some sort, like jumper cables, the third would be a little box with a hole in it. First, put the box with teh hole around the #1 sparkplug wire. Next, connect the jumpercable ends to the battery. Then, pull the trigger and point the light at the crank. When it flashes, the crank should appear still. Look at the timing marks to see what your timing is. it should be 16 +-2 degrees before top dead center. hope that helps.

How do I point it at the crank? I can point it at a piston if I have the sparkplug out... I can point it at the camshaft... You cleared up some stuff but confused me somewhat more
