Default timing points

tonight when i get off work im checking my crank and my head to ensure its at top dead center. how do i make sure that the dizzy is timed right... car wont fire now since some part of timing is off. where should the rotor be if its at TDC should it be about to hit 1 or middle of 1 or done with 1?

it should point very very close to #1, if #1 is at TDC and the cam timing is correct you can advance the dizzy all the way, if it still doesnt crank its not timing.
